Speed Brake Armed Signs Agreement with Greg Koontz Airshows for Synchronized Aerobatic Performance at 2026 Airshows, Including EAA AirVenture

**United States – May 8, 2026** – Aviation-themed band, Speed Brake Armed, today announced the signing of an agreement with Greg Koontz Airshows to feature the band’s original song “American Decathlon Dreams” synchronized to Greg Koontz’s renowned Super Decathlon aerobatic routine throughout the 2026 airshow season. The collaboration will culminate at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2026, where Speed Brake Armed’s music will also be featured during both Night Airshows.

Greg Koontz, one of America’s most respected airshow performers and the foremost authority on the Super Decathlon aircraft, will fly his signature low-level aerobatic routine to the driving rhythms and aviation-inspired lyrics of “American Decathlon Dreams.” The high-energy track celebrates the agility, precision, and pure joy of flying the iconic American Champion Super Decathlon, perfectly complementing Koontz’s dynamic performance that includes outside loops, vertical rolls, snaps, tumbles, inverted passes, and his classic low inverted ribbon cut.

**About Greg Koontz**
Greg Koontz learned to fly in 1969 and earned his Private Pilot Certificate at age 17. In high school, he restored a 1946 Piper J-3 Cub in his mother’s garage and flew it for 300 hours. Before turning 18, he sold the Cub to fund his commercial pilot certificate and additional ratings. He began working as a flight instructor while attending Business College at the University of Montevallo in Alabama.

At age 20, Koontz entered the airshow world by purchasing another Piper Cub and performing a comedy act with Ernie Moser’s Flying Circus in St. Augustine, Florida. He later mastered low-level aerobatics in the Great Lakes Bi-Plane and Super Decathlon, including the famous “World’s Smallest Airport” stunt. After a successful corporate jet career until 2002, he returned to full-time airshow and aerobatic instruction. Since 2003, he has been sponsored by American Champion Aircraft, flying new Super Decathlons before millions annually.

Today, Greg and his wife Cora operate a Bed & Breakfast and aerobatic school on a private grass strip in Ashville, Alabama. His high-energy Super Decathlon routine showcases the aircraft’s capabilities with tight, low-level maneuvers, smoke, and crowd-pleasing excitement.
