Aviation Careers within a Budget
Aviation career options are limitless. AviNation's media platform provides resources and hosts events that highlight the many opportunities that exist in the aviation industry. In this month's newsletter, we take a look at two other organizations through our podcast, Future in Flight and a newcomer, SKYSCHOLAR.
We've released 25 episodes so far of our Future in Flight Podcast. In our latest episode, Jamail Larkins shares his aviation journey and how he is inspiring the next generation as the FAA's First Aviation Ambassador. Second, Luke Pylypciw, a young man that has articles published in our magazine as well as been selected as a Rising Star, has launched his own consulting service, SKYSCHOLAR whose mission is to provide guidance to students on their flight journey. I strongly encourage you to check out their stories.

My aviation journey began in my Junior year in high school when I was awarded a scholarship to the National Flight Academy in Pensacola, FL. It only took three days to realize that aviation was the right career track for me.
To test my decision, I booked a discovery flight at a local airport to gain a better understanding of what it takes to become a pilot, and it was well worth it. I accelerated my high school diploma and graduated in just 2 and a half years, just to begin my pilot training as early as possible.
Today, at the age of 19, I have a bachelor’s degree in Aviation and hold a commercial pilot’s license (CSEL/CMEL) with an Instrument rating, and I am working towards my CFI initial. I have also applied for and received acceptance letters from multiple pilot cadet programs that are eager to offer helpful resources to continue my professional development. |

It’s Time to Give Students Wings: Aviation Belongs in the Classroom
Guest Editorial: Luke Pylypciw, Founder and President, SKYSCHOLAR

In just the past decade, the aviation industry has undergone a transformation unlike any other in its history. From rapidly changing hiring standards to post-pandemic aircraft delivery bottlenecks, the pathway to becoming a professional pilot has grown more complex than ever.
What was once a straightforward journey is now a maze of options, costs, and conflicting information, leaving many aspiring aviators unsure where to turn. In today’s fast-changing environment, the need for clear guidance and a trusted, strategic approach to flight training has never been greater, and it starts in the classroom.
Take a peek into any high school guidance office. You’ll see advertisements for the military, trade programs, medical school, and your local state school, but nothing about aviation. Connections to the rapidly expanding industry are practically non-existent.
The severity of the missed opportunity is eye-opening. In July of 2025, Boeing forecasted a 20-year global demand for nearly 2.4 million new pilots, maintenance technicians, and cabin crew. The U.S. News Rankings placed becoming a pilot at #2 for best social service jobs, and highlighted the median salary of $219,140 in 2023. That’s a fairly decent way to travel the world and experience new cultures. |
